A few days ago, I wrote about Discover Deals, what I consider to be the best thing about Discover cards. Well, if Discover Deals is #1, then the quarterly 5% category is a close #2. For the second calendar quarter of the year (April through June), you can earn up to $75 by spending at grocery stores.
Discover Cash Back Bonus: Grocery Stores
Every calendar quarter, Discover offers a 5% rebate in various categories. For the second quarter of 2018, it’s grocery stores. Easy enough: Spend up to $1,500 at grocery stores between April and June and they’ll give you 5% back on all purchases, maxing out your quarterly rebate at $75.
Don’t think you’ll spend that much? Here’s a hint: Most grocery stores sell gift cards. You can buy yourself a restaurant card, an Amazon card or even a plain vanilla Mastercard/Visa gift card to use at a future time. Since you’re making the purchase at a grocery store, you’ll get 5% back.
I’m a big fan of Discover cards. Even if the everyday spending isn’t always the highest return, they have enough good promotions throughout the year that it’s worth having one. They’re free, so it won’t cost you anything to get one.
