About this blog

Hi!  I’m Mike and I’ll be your blogger as we delve into the world of frequent flyer miles.  I’ve been a mileage junkie for three decades and have generated several million miles and points over a number of airline and hotel programs.  I hope to pass along a little bit of what I’ve learned so you can take those dream trips!

I started this blog as a guide for people who are new to the world of frequent flyer miles and hotel points, but I like to think that there will be something for everybody here, no matter how experienced you are. Like most blogs, the most recent posts are on top and a novice might feel like they are drinking from the proverbial fire hose.  Thus, you may want to start at the bottom or in a particular category and work your way backwards until you are confident that you know the basics. Starting from the very beginning?  Read through the posts in the “Novice” category to the right and/or check out terms in the Glossary. I’m hoping to build the glossary out in the spring of 2018.

In the bottom right-hand corner of your window, there is a follow button. I hope you’ll sign up, and I promise, no more than one email per day regarding new posts.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope to see you frequently.

It’s been a long time that i am not using my miles and more “ Star Alliance “ card and realized that I’ve travel airlines that are member of it. Can I still update it. How can I check my mileage. Your comments on this matter is very much appreciated. Thank you.

What would the approximate value be of 58,000 united points? Can they be sold?

    1. Generally, they can’t be sold. If the airlines catch you doing it, they will confiscate your miles.

I generally value miles at about 1.5 cents per mile, so that would be worth just under $900. That valuation is loose, so it’s certainly possible to do better.

Do you shop online? You can use the airlines’ shopping websites to earn miles. Usually, they’ll pay you several miles per dollar spent. Also, check out BankDirect:

Just looking for some pointers to earn miles! I’m a student with loans, so I haven’t been able to get any of the credit cards for earning miles. Any other ideas?
