Hotel Promos And A Thank You

This will be the last post before the new year. I wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season.

We’re starting to see the early promotions for 2017’s first quarter. Here are two of them:

Marriott MegaBonus

MegaBonus

Marriott is not the most creative company in the world when it comes to promotions, with the seasonal ones all called “MegaBonus.” You can end up with one of three promotions. To see which one you got, log into your account and then, under the “My Account” tab in the top right, click on “Your Promotions.” I got the worst of the three, which gives me double points for my first three stays from January 16 – April 15. There are also options that give you additional points based on how many nights you stay during the promo period, as well. Not much of a promo at all.

IHG Accelerate

Another promotion that is the same almost every season. In this one, after you register, you will be assigned a list of “tasks,” such as “stay a weekend night” or “stay at three different brands.” Each task is worth a certain number of IHG points and you usually get a bonus for completing a certain number of them. Mine was particularly difficult this time around, so I will be ignoring this promotion. Check out yours to see how easy (or difficult) it is to earn points.

And Finally, A Thank You…

First, I want to thank everyone who took the time to read my blog this year. This is a labor of love for me (The only real revenue I get is from advertising clicks, and that barely covers the hosting costs.) and I’m going to keep doing it as long as I enjoy it. I appreciate all the questions, comments, criticisms, etc. that I have gotten over the years. And if you know a friend who you think might get something out of it, feel free to send them the link to the site.

I also want to thank everyone who has gotten a credit card through my Credit Card for Charity page. Credit cards are great for miles, but they also create a conflict for the blogger, who generates commissions from them. I’m removing the conflict by donating the net proceeds to charity. In 2015, the blog donated almost $3,000 to Cradles to Crayons, a four-star charity from Charity Navigator. I’m hoping that 2016 proceeds will be even better.

And finally, you can apply for credit cards through the Credit Cards for Charity link above. All card proceeds are donated to charity, so please do well by doing good!
