675 Free Points From JetBlue Without Leaving Your Desk

In terms of pure dollar value, JetBlue’s TrueBlue program blows away every other airline. It’s not even fair how about the gap is. The points translate to about 1.5 cents each and, simply booking a ticket (3 points per dollar spent) through the web site (gets you another 3 points per dollar spent). That’s effectively nine cents of value (6 points X 1.5 cents per point) for every dollar you spend on tickets. Got Mosaic status?* That will get you another three points per dollar spent. Bought those tickets with a JetBlue credit card? That’s up to another six points per dollar spent. In total, you can be getting 15 points per dollar spent on a JetBlue ticket, which is equivalent to a 22-23% rebate in the form of value for a future flight. And since you get 10% of your redeemed miles returned to you at the end of the year, you’re earning about 25% in TrueBlue value.

I’ll take these stinkin’ badges

Badges are virtual extras that JetBlue gives you for flying, buying or simply interacting with them. There are almost 500 of them and, although most of them don’t get you anything other than a warm and fuzzy feeling, some do give you bonus TrueBlue points.

And while some of them do involve flying, such as the Destination Domination badge, which earns you 500,000 TrueBlue points for flying to every JetBlue destination, some of them don’t require much more than a few clicks (although the rewards are a touch lower). Many of them are social networking options, but some are as simple as visiting the site a few times. And for those who have a fear or hatred of Facebook and Twitter, please read this post to make it as painless as possible.

675 points are not exactly worth big bucks, but they’re free and easy. Here are badges you can earn without standing up that will also get you TrueBlue points:

  • Welcome: Heck, they’ll give you 100 points just to join the badge program.
  • In A Badge Mood: Visit the badges page ten times and earn 25 points
  • Facebook Friend: Connect your Facebook account to TrueBlue badges for 50 points
  • High Profile: Complete your JetBlue profile for 100 points
  • Nice To Tweet You: Connect your Twitter account to TrueBlue badges. Get 50 points.
  • Sweet Tweeter: Share to Twitter five times for 50 points.
  • Other Twitter badges: Earn bonus points for your 10th, 20th and 30th shares on Twitter. Note that for some of these badges, you need to have reached a certain level.

Okay, you won’t be taking too many trips with the points that you earn from these badges, but every bit helps, especially when it comes so easy.

*Beginner’s Hint: Mosaic status is JetBlue’s version of elite status. Airlines reward their most frequent flyers with added perks, based on how much they fly and/or how much they spend. For a bit about earning JetBlue’s Mosaic status, you may want to read this post.
